It has long bothered Google Now users to repeatedly view news from sources they were once interested in and no longer are. The stories and content are based on users’ search histories and other social content.
Google Now has a solution and is offering users an option to dismiss all content and stories from publishers they are no longer interested in. It has previously allowed various customizations, but stories based on user history could not have been altered. Google now allows users block content and news from sources they do not like by tapping the overflow menu on a particular story and choose “Not interested in stories from –“
This feature allows users to customize what they see on their news feed by completely blocking topics they are not interested in receiving information about. For instance, users could customize to only receive content around sports.
Users prefer customization options like these – It provides them a sense of control over their news feed, confidence about the information received and reliability of the source. Companies that provide this level of customization will benefit from a greater number of users engaging with them. The combination of algorithmically chosen content and now, individual customization makes it a go-to site for news and updates. Google is in the process of rolling this feature out, and will be available to all users in the immediate future.
